The directors of Northern Foods believe that open and regular communications with colleagues are fundamental to running a successful business, and that this commitment is even more important during a period of change.
Northern Foods is in a period of major transition, and the directors are clear that all colleagues need to understand the reasons for these changes, the actions being taken, and the impact - positive or negative - they will have on colleagues’ lives. Just as importantly, the directors want to involve everyone, to listen to what people have to say, and to help everyone understand the role they can play in the changes the company is making.
A range of site-based and central communication channels are in place, including cascade briefings, internal newsletters, the intranet, and face-to-face meetings, to ensure colleagues are updated and can provide valuable feedback to the directors.
The Northern Foods Forum is the company's formal colleague consultation mechanism. Colleagues’ elected representatives meet with the chief executive and members of the operating board, and ask formal questions about the company's performance and direction.
