Northern Foods constantly strives to reduce waste, minimise its impact on the environment and lower operating costs.

We are committed members of Waste Resource Action Programme (WRAP) and were early signatories to the Courtauld Agreement.

Working with WRAP we have introduced a simple methodology into the business based on the waste hierarchy of:

• Reduce
• Reuse
• Recycle

The overall objective is to reduce total waste year on year by 5% and achieve zero waste to landfill, in the UK, by 2012.

To do this each site is developing its own local plan to reduce, reuse and recycle waste.
