Northern Foods is pleased to confirm that it has been chosen as one of the main suppliers for ASDA’s range of ready meals after an 18 month tender process.

The appointment follows ASDA’s decision to re-launch its ready meals range this coming autumn with new recipes and new packaging. The business is worth around £30 million*.

Northern Foods will be making over 60 different products across four sites in the UK. Production will be phased in from the 17th of September with full production in place by the end of October 2005. Over 270 new jobs will be created to manage the increased production volume with the potential for more in the future.

Pat O’Driscoll, Northern Foods’ chief executive, said:

Northern Foods already supplies a wide range of products to ASDA including chilled savoury pastry, cakes, puddings, biscuits and frozen pizza.
