Jez Maiden, Chief Finance Officer
Jez Maiden joined the Board of Northern Foods plc in 2005 as Chief Finance Officer.
Previously Jez was Group Finance Director of British Vita plc, a UK mid-cap polymer manufacturer operating in 22 countries. He joined Northern Foods following completion of the acquisition of British Vita by a private equity investor in June 2005.
Prior to joining British Vita plc in 2002, Jez spent a brief period as Director of Finance of the Britannia Building Society.
Before that he was with Hickson International plc, a UK-listed international specialty chemical company, initially as Divisional Finance Director, before becoming Group Finance Director in 1999.
Jez started his career with Unilever plc in 1982 working as an accountant, buyer and systems analyst. He then spent seven years with the management consultancy division of Price Waterhouse before joining Hickson International plc.
Since joining Northern Foods, Jez has worked closely with the chief executive to sharpen the focus and deliver performance improvement in the business. He spearheaded the company's disposal programme which was completed in January 2007, realising gross proceeds of £211.2 million. He has also driven the company's focus on rigorous cash and capital management.
Jez is a non-executive director of Yule Catto & Co plc. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA) and holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA Honours) degree from Grey College at the University of Durham.
